RENTON, Wash. New Balance 980 Dame . -- John Schneider understands the entertainment and excitement when it comes to the first round of the NFL draft. Its what transpires in those later rounds on the final two days that has separated the Seattle Seahawks from the pack since Schneider and coach Pete Carroll took over in 2010. "I think the first round is a beautiful thing because its so exciting and everybody is really into it. Its entertainment. I get it," Schneider said. "But its all about the work that all the scouts put in throughout the fall, all the way through the draft and into rookie free agency." Schneider and the Seahawks hold the No. 32 pick in the first round, but its the paltry amount of selections that follow for Seattle that stands out with the draft approaching. The Seahawks hold only six picks heading into Thursday night, and it would be the fewest selections by Seattle since 2006 if that number holds. Schneider and Carroll have made no fewer than nine picks in any of their previous drafts in charge and ended up making 11 selections last year. The measly number of picks -- at least in terms of Seattles recent history -- has raised speculation Schneider could be looking to move out of the last spot in the first round so he could acquire more selections on Days 2 and 3. Schneider said even if the Seahawks hold their six picks, it hasnt changed their approach to the draft. "Its just a matter of how it starts coming off," Schneider said. "This year is going to be really unique because of the quarterbacks and how they come off. There are some really talented quarterbacks that should go really high in the draft." Here are five things to watch as the Seahawks draft as NFL champions for the first time: FIFTH-ROUND FINDS: While Seattle has pulled some gems from the middle rounds, something about the fifth round has proved extremely fruitful for the Seahawks. In 2010, Seattle landed strong safety Kam Chancellor. A year later, it was All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman falling to Seattle in Round 5. And last year, Seattle found value in tight end Luke Willson in the fifth round; he went on to catch 20 passes. No surprise, Seattle has a pair of fifth-round picks. "I think coach Carroll and his staff have that natural, they played with young players at USC. Theyre used to it. They dont have a preconceived notion that you need a veteran," Schneider said. "The easiest thing to do is sign a veteran. The toughest thing to do is sign a young player and coach them up and spend extra time with them and develop them and get them ready to play. And this staff has shown an ability to do that year in and year out." LINE GAPS: Seattle will need to fill at least two offensive line spots after right tackle Breno Giacomini and left guard Paul McQuistan left in free agency. Michael Bowie, a seventh-round pick last year, will likely get the first shot at right tackle, but filling the guard spot could come from the draft. The likes of guard Xavier Sua-Filo from UCLA or tackle Morgan Moses from Virginia could possibly be options for Seattle late in the first round. BIG TARGET: Everyone loves big wide receivers, especially Carroll. They were a staple of his offences at USC and Seattle has tried to emulate that first with Mike Williams and then Sidney Rice since Carroll arrived. Rice, who has been injury-plagued since signing with Seattle, is returning, but the Seahawks could use another receiving option with Golden Tate going to Detroit in the off-season. RUN STUFFER: Seattle let go of Red Bryant and Chris Clemons and saw Clinton McDonald sign elsewhere, leaving depth questions on the defensive line. The Seahawks believe Greg Scruggs and Jesse Williams, both injured last season, will be able to help fill the voids. But look for Seattle to try and add depth up front after seeing the benefits of having a rotation last season. THE SURPRISE WILL BE ... Aside from their success in the later rounds, the Seahawks have pulled a few surprises in the draft, especially with their early picks. Whether it was taking Bruce Irvin in the middle of the first round or the decision to draft Russell Wilson after signing Matt Flynn as a free agent, Schneiders group is good for at least one eyebrow-raising selection. Lara thought he had done just that, but when the decision came down it was Alvarez whose hand was held aloft.MILWAUKEE -- Now its Dwyane Wades turn to make a decision. The Miami Heat star is getting treatment "around the clock" for his aching right knee, and coach Erik Spoelstra said theyll wait until Sunday to decide whether hell play in Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks. With a chance to close out the series in four games, something the Heat havent done since LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Wade in Miami, hes sure to want to play. But with the outcome of the series almost inevitable -- no team has come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series -- and so much of the playoffs left, taking a game off might be the wiser option. "Its very difficult right now because its the playoffs and tomorrow is never promised. During the regular season, you can really pick and choose your spots," Chris Bosh said after the Heat practiced Saturday. "Now, its just doing what youre supposed to do off the court as much as possible, and hoping when you play out there in the game, you can play as close to 100 per cent as you can. "Its a very tough position to be in right now," Bosh added. "But Dwyanes a competitor and hell do best thing for himself and for the team." Wade missed six games near the end of the regular season with three bone bruises, one each along the top, bottom and one side of his right kneecap. Though he continues to feel better, he got banged around good in Miamis 104-91 victory in Game 3 on Thursday night. He was hit in the knee, face and elbow in just one play, and hed be sure to face similar contact from the Bucks on Sunday. Miami didnt practice Friday, but Wade spent several hours at Marquette University, his alma mater, getting treatment. He took part in practice Saturday, though Spoelstra said he sat out the "majority" of the Heats full-court work. "Well just continue to evaluate," Spoelstra said. "Hes feeling better than yesterday. Tomorrow, well see how he feels with more treatment today and well go from there. Hes been feeling better, really making progress, for three straight weeks." Losing a top player during the playoffs is a nightmare scenario for any team. When Bosh missed nine games during last years playoffs with strained abdominal muscles, the Heat went 5-4 in his absence. But with the addition of Ray Allen and Chris Andersen, this Miami team is even deeper than the one that won the NBA title last season. Allen is averaging almost 17 points in the first three playoff games, and he picked up the slack when Wade struggled offensively in Game 3. He scored 23 points, and his five 3-pointers gave him 322 for his career, topping Reggie Millers old playoff record by two. Andersen has played less than 45 minutes, yet has 31 points and 19 rebounds. "Theyve had a huge impact, Andersen, Ray, (Norris) Cole," Milwaukee coach Jim Boylan said. "Anytime you have a championship team, youre always going to have some unsung heroes. They have multiple guys who can do it," Boylan addeed. Nike Roshe Run Herre Udsalg. "Theyre a team thats built for a championship." If Wade cant play, Spoelstra would likely start Mike Miller in his place. Though Miller has played all of 2 minutes and change in the first three games, putting him in the starting lineup instead of, say, Allen would allow the Heat to preserve its typical order of substitutes. And continuity is key at this time of year, which partly explains why the Heat refused to get overly excited at the prospect of this group sweeping its first playoff series. The Heat have had 3-0 leads in the first round the last two years -- Philadelphia in 2011 and the Knicks in 2012 -- only to lose Game 4 each time. "Its the most important game because its our next game," James said flatly. "Thats how we approach this game and we look forward to the challenge." Added Bosh, "Before we got too much ahead of ourselves. That was a problem. We have to keep playing, keep working the game, and not really think about sweeping people." Make no mistake, though, the Heat would like to cross a sweep of their "to-do" list. (If nothing else, theyd have at least five full days off before the Eastern Conference semifinals would start.) "That was our concentration and emphasis today: Its 24 hours to do what we have to do," Spoelstra said. "Thats why we dont want to short cut any of the preparation. Its their last stand, we know what that can be like. The last two years, weve lost a game in this situation. Hopefully we can learn from that and find a way to close it out." Milwaukee, meanwhile, would love nothing more than to extend its season by at least two more days. Game 5 would be Tuesday in Miami. This is still a relatively young Bucks team with Larry Sanders in only his third season, Brandon Jennings his fourth and Ersan Ilyasova and Luc Mbah a Moute their fifth. Its Milwaukees first playoff appearance in three years, and the experience, regardless of how long it lasts, will be invaluable. "Everybodys getting something out of it," coach Jim Boylan said. "Were in the middle of it, but theres time you reflect, you look back, you watch the games and see certain things that happened and you can adjust and make a difference for your team. Im sure that, at the end of this series -- whenever this series is over -- all our guys are going to look back and take something positive from it." But they hope that wont be for a few more days. "(Sunday) is going to be our fourth game and it could be our last game," Sanders said. "But hopefully guys dont want it to be our last game." Notes: Bosh sat out some of Miamis full-court work with sore legs, but Spoelstra said everyone but Wade is "ready to go" for Game 4. ... The Bucks have no health issues, Boylan said. ... Sundays game on ABC is a rare appearance on broadcast television for the Bucks. "With my rabbit ears on my TV, I can get this thing," Boylan cracked.
