The 16-game home winning streak tied Detroit with the 1975-76 Boston Bruins for the fourth-longest home winning streak in NHL history. Ryan Russell and Nikita Nikitin scored for Columbus, and Curtis Sanford stopped 29 shots. The teams traded power-play goals in the second period. Lidstrom tied it 2-2 with 8:57 left in the period when his slap shot from the point bounced off the end boards and deflected in off Sanfords pads for his 10th goal. Zetterberg received a boarding major and a game misconduct. "The puck went down to the corner and I chased down their defenceman. I had my hand on his back. I dont think I pushed him hard.," Zetterberg said. "He went down. It looked bad, it looks really bad, so I cant blame the referee for giving me five minutes. I really dont know what to say, it looks bad." Columbus captain Rick Nash gave Zetterberg the benefit of the doubt. "Its a dangerous play. But the whole league knows that hes not that kind of a player," Nash said. "I thought he was going for the puck. I dont think Zetterberg is that kind of player." Richards said there was no update on Nikitin after the game because the coach had not yet had a chance to talk to the teams trainers.
