Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Alexander Semins goal in the third round of the shootout was the winner, as the Washington Capitals blew a three-goal lead but rebounded to beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-4. Alan Trammell Jersey . After Danny Briere scored to even things, Semin walked in on Brian Boucher, pulled the puck back to avoid an unnecessary poke check, and lifted a backhander home to end the game. Washington, which saw its lead in the Southeast Division increase to seven points over second-place Tampa Bay, wrapped up a playoff spot. Mike Knuble posted a goal and two assists for the Capitals, who shrugged off the absence of captain Alex Ovechkin to win for the 11th time in 12 outings. I certainly like how we came out. Everything we were shooting was going in and we got that three-goal lead, Knuble said. You knew at some point they were going to come on, and that they werent happy with the way things went from the start. The goaltender change really sparked them. We kept rolling as a group and got timely goals to win. Nicklas Backstrom and Marcus Johansson added a goal and helper each and Michal Neuvirth stopped 29 shots. Andreas Nodl and Claude Giroux totaled a goal and assist apiece for the Flyers, who lost for the third time in five games but remained one point ahead of Washington (97-96) in the race for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Boucher ended up with 13 saves over the final 43-plus minutes. He bailed out starter Sergei Bobrovsky, who was yanked after yielding three goals on nine shots in less than 22 minutes. Backstrom managed to squeeze a shot between Bobrovskys arm and body from just inside the blue line for a 1-0 Capitals edge at 7:52 of the first period. The Flyers failed to equalize on an extended advantage shortly thereafter, and Knuble made it 2-0 with 2:14 remaining after finishing off a passing play between Johansson and Jason Chimera. Washington went up by three on a power play at 1:22 of the second when Bobrovsky let another shot, this time from Dennis Wideman, slip through his armpit and Boucher was summoned from the bench. Kris Versteeg banked his pass to the slot off Widemans skate and in at 8:05, and it was a one-goal contest with 33.8 seconds to play when Nodl shipped a cross-ice dish to Giroux for a successful one-timer from the left circle. Mike Richards hit the far post on a wrister with 5 1/2 minutes gone in the third, but a bad clear from the Caps wound up in their own net just before the midway point. While the visitors chipped the puck around the end boards from left to right, the disc was intercepted by Giroux, whose quick tip pass found Nodl alone in front. He causally flipped his shot over Neuvirths glove for a 3-3 tie. Briere then tipped home a Kimmo Timonen point drive with 5:45 to go and the Flyers had their first lead of the contest, but Johansson drilled a long shot home with 3:19 left to deadlock the game again. Both sides had quality chances in overtime but failed to end the contest. I thought it was a playoff game. Washington is one of the best teams in the league for a reason, Nodl admmitted. They battle hard, and they block shots. It was a great game for us other than the outcome. GAME NOTES:The Capitals reached the postseason for the fourth straight year and for the 22nd season since arriving in the NHL in 1974...All four games this season between the clubs were decided beyond regulation...Ovechkin was ruled out for the next 7-10 days on Monday, with what the Caps called an undisclosed, but nagging injury...Prior to the game, the Flyers announced that forward Jody Shelley will miss one month after undergoing surgery to correct a fractured orbital bone around his left eye...The club recalled defenseman Danny Syvret from Adirondack of the AHL to fill the roster space...Brieres tally was his 100th with Philadelphia...Knuble hit the 20-goal mark for the eighth straight season. Andrew McCutchen Pirates Jersey . The outfielder hasnt played since April 26. Braun was hitting .318 with six homers and 18 RBIs when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 3. Braun took batting practice before the teams game Wednesday afternoon against Arizona. Willie Stargell Jersey . McLeod, who was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding and Kronwall was taken from the ice on a stretcher. After the game, the Red Wings told the media that Kronwall had sustained a concussion. By having an in-person hearing, the league can suspend McLeod for more than five-games as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.DAVIE, Fla. - The players union representative from the Miami Dolphins says the fallout from their bullying scandal is overblown because every NFL team has a similar locker-room culture. Long snapper John Denney, a nine-year veteran, said Monday he hadnt read the investigative report on the Dolphins case. But any harassment among players is nothing new, he said. "Its overblown, because this has been my experience with the league my entire career from Day One," Denney said in a telephone interview. "If something needed to be done, it needed to be done a long time ago. It has never escalated. I never saw conditions worsen. I guess were late in getting to the issue. "I would be comfortable in saying if you put an investigation on any of the 32 teams in the NFL, youre going to come out with the exact same results." In a report released Feb. 14, investigators found guard Richie Incognito and two other offensive linemen engaged in persistent harassment directed at tackle Jonathan Martin, another offensive lineman and an assistant trainer. Denney, at 35 the Dolphins oldest player, said behaviour among players was no different last year than when his NFL career began in 2005. Bullying of rookies was common then, too, he said. "When I came into the league, I assumed I was going to accept it or find a different line of work," Denney said. "I dont agree with the lifestyles of some of guys on the team, but if I have an issue, I can address it with individual people. If I felt uncomfortable with a situation, I would address it or find something else to do." Denney made his comments following a celebrity golf tournament organized by former Dolphins star Jason Taylor that included several current Miami players. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill said hes confident the necessary changes will be made to ensure a healthy locker-room environment. Tannehill made his first public comments regarding the 144-page report. "I saw a few pages of it," Tannehill said. "I got overwhelmed by 140-and-whatever pages and skipped it. Im just glad its out. The evaluations and summaries have been made, the points have been taken and now we can move forward. Jose Altuve Astros Jersey. Theres no more being anxious about it coming out. Weve had the consequences and repercussions, and now we can put it in the past and move forward." The Dolphins fired offensive line coach Jim Turner and longtime head athletic trainer Kevin ONeill for their roles in the scandal, and coach Joe Philbin pledged to improve the workplace culture. NFL punishment of players who engaged in harassment may be forthcoming in the form of fines, suspensions or both. Tannehill could find him playing behind an entirely new line to start the 2014 season. Even so, he considers fallout from the scandal in the past. "I think its behind us at this point," he said. "Obviously well try to learn from it and correct things coach Philbin and the coaching staff feel need to be changed. We want to have a healthy locker room." Tannehill, a starter since the first game of his rookie season in 2012, was a member of the teams leadership council last season. But at 25, he said hes still growing into the role of a leader. "You definitely get more comfortable speaking up at certain times," he said. "You have the respect. Thats the big thing — having the other guys respect in the locker room. You cant come in with no respect and try to own the place. At this point hopefully I have some respect in the locker room, and now I can assert myself." Taylor is part of an advisory group formed last fall by team owner Stephen Ross that also includes Tony Dungy, Don Shula, Dan Marino and Curtis Martin. The group, which has yet to meet, will review organizational conduct policies and make recommendations on areas for improvement. "We have all seen the report," Taylor said. "We know what it says. In the coming days and weeks we will have a discussion about it, and that discussion will stay between me, Mr. Ross and the other members of the committee." ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL ___ Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Steve_Wine Cheap China Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China China NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' ' Cheap Jerseys China
