The Montreal Canadiens sent forward Louis Leblanc down to the American Hockey Leagues Hamilton Bulldogs on Monday night, a move that did not sit well with girlfriend Aleksandra Wozniak. The Montreal-born tennis player criticized the move through social media on Tuesday, calling out the Canadiens organization for giving up too quickly on the 2009 first-round pick in the preseason. "He did everything the CH organisation told him to do and what...got cut this early?!," she wrote in English on her Twitter account @alekswoz. "Oh and the reason...worst excuse ever!! This is wrong!" Wozniak also voiced her displeasure in French. "Une vrai joke avec la pire excuse pour "cuter" quelquun!!," she added. "Vraiment pas un fair shot! Trop de manipulations! Super nouvelle organisation!" ("A real joke with the worst excuse for cutting someone. Really not a fair shot! Too much manipulation!") The tweets were later removed. Leblanc, 22, was the 18th overall pick in 2009. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound forward played 42 games with the Canadiens in 2011-12, but struggled last season in Hamilton and was never called up to Montreal. Leblanc was among 14 players cut on Monday night. Forwards Martin Reway and Charles Hudon and goaltender Zachary Fucale were returned to their respective junior teams, while forwards Joonas Nattinen, Stephen MacAulay, Stefan Fournier, Sven Andrighetto and Erik Nystrom, goaltender Robert Mayer and defencemen Morgan Ellis, Darren Dietz, Dalton Thrower and Matt Lashoff were sent to the Bulldogs training camp. Canada got on the board first as Adam McQueen knocked down an early penalty goal to put the host team up 3-0 less than twenty minutes into the game. Ten minutes later, Jack Fitzpatrick pushed his way across the line to give Canada the 10-0 lead following the conversion from McQueen. Joaquin Prada pulled Uruguay within seven points as he knocked down a penalty goal to trim the lead heading into the half. Uruguay scored an early second half try from Pablo Bueno to pull even with Canada. But Scholzs try in the final moments of the game sealed the victory for the Canadian squad. "It was a great effort," said Scholz. &qquot; We made a lot of mistakes and we left a lot to be worked on but the guys really pulled it together at the end there and we really came through when we needed to.dddddddddddd "A wins a win and well move on." Despite the victory, Canadas head coach Kieran Crowley said his team has a lot of work to do. "We need to work on ball security to start, the placement of it, the clean up," he said. "We certainly need to work on our skill level. We just turned over too many balls, we have to do better." Up next for Canada is a clash against the United States on Tuesday while Uruguay faces its border rival Argentina. Canadas captain Andrew Tiedemann was forced to exit the game with a cut on his head. Doug Wooldridge replaced the injured captain in the line up.
