NEWARK, N. http://www.englandeuroshirtshop.com/fraser-forster...ersey.h tml .J. -- Cory Schneider has played in so many low-scoring games this season that his coach compared him to a pitcher who needs a shutout to win. "We dont give him a lot of run support and I think hes starting to get used to that," New Jersey Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "Hes figured it out that he has to pitch a shutout." Schneider made 26 saves while "pitching" his third shutout of the season and Michael Ryder scored his fourth goal in five games to lead the Devils past the Dallas Stars 1-0 on Thursday night. Schneider came up with his biggest save in the closing seconds when Tyler Seguin of the Stars put one on net, but he turned it away to clinch the game. "Even with 8 seconds left, they can still come up the ice and make something happen," Schneider said. "Fortunately, I was able to stick that one away and it didnt hit my guy and go in. Winning is always better, no matter how it happens, 5-4 or 1-0." Schneider earned his first victory since Dec. 28 against the New York Islanders. Schneiders previous shutout was also a 1-0 victory against Buffalo on Nov. 30. He also blanked the Rangers in October. Ryder, who scored 35 goals three seasons ago while playing for the Stars, netted his team-leading 15th on a pass from Travis Zajac. "I went through a little stretch there where the puck wasnt going in and I just stuck with it," Ryder said. "If you keep shooting, eventually youll find the back of the net. Its going in for me now." Despite stellar goaltending by Kari Lehtonen, who made 33 saves, Dallas dropped its fourth straight. "I think that is the problem when you are losing a lot," Lehtonen said. "You are not consistently playing well. We need to keep working. During a season, there are tough times and really good times. Our job is to cut this as short as possible and start playing well again." Ryder connected at 8:17 of the second period. Ryane Clowe sent the puck behind the net and Zajac held on until he could slip it to Ryder for his shot from the edge of the right circle that beat Lehtonen to his stick side. "One-nothing games are games that goalies want," Lehtonen said. "I wish we would have been the one with the one goal at the end. It was a tight game and their goalie played great. Thats how it goes." Ryder nearly struck again at the 10:36 mark of the second when he intercepted a pass and skated in for an uncontested shot that Lehtonen saved. Dallas made a bid to tie the game when Ryan Garbutt took a shot that hit Schneiders mask. Soon after, Stephen Gionta was charged with a double-minor for hitting Jamie Benn in the face with his stick. The Devils killed the four-minute power-play to keep its 1-0 lead entering the third. "That was critical," DeBoer said of killing the four-minute power play. The Stars didnt get their first shot until 10:40 in the first period. That drought included a two-minute power play. The Devils held a 10-8 shots edge in the period. Ryders shot from between the circles was thwarted by a nice reaction save by Lehtonen midway through the first. Schneider made three saves in rapid succession to deny the Stars in the first period. Tyler Seguin skated down the left wing before trying to beat Schneider with a high shot. Seguin got a second chance on the rebound before Rich Peverley took his shot from in close that Schneider blocked. "There wasnt one save that stood out, but that flurry of shots there was when I had to be on my toes," Schneider said. Seguin, Dallas 21-goal scorer had the toughest night with six of his shots denied by Schneider. "Its a big goose egg up there," Seguin said. "I am pretty much a guy who needs to produce. Im not satisfied. In the third period, we showed some desperation. We need to find a way to get it for a full 60. We are wanting to win, but we are not hating to lose." NOTES: Zajac missed Wednesdays practice because his wife gave birth to his daughter. DeBoer noted that Zajac looked energized. "His wife should give birth every week," the coach said. "He looked great." . DeBoer said he was "leaning toward" giving Schneider a second straight start against Florida on Saturday because of the shutout. The Devils activated D Adam Larsson, who has not played since Nov. 23, from IR and assigned him to their AHL Albany affiliate. http://www.englandeuroshirtshop.com/harry-kane-jersey.html . Catch the game on TSN starting at 9pm et/6pm pt. The Kings are 0-2-1 on their final trip of the regular season. They end the campaign at home on Saturday versus the Pacific Division-champion Anaheim Ducks before kicking off a first-round playoff matchup with the second-place San Jose Sharks. Wayne Rooney Replica Jersey . It looked like being another miserable day for Moyes when Ashley Westwood put Villa in front from a 13th-minute free kick. But Rooney headed United level seven minutes later, and the striker netted his 16th of the season for the struggling champions from the penalty spot before halftime.OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators didnt like the way they started things Thursday night, but they were more than happy with how they ended. The Senators scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 in Ottawas home opener. We were frustrated after the first, theres no question, said Clarke MacArthur, who scored the winner. We slowed things down a little bit in the second and started to make the easy plays and we got a little momentum that way and started getting pucks to the net so that was good.Bobby Ryan, Zack Smith and David Legwand also scored for the Senators (3-1-0) as Craig Anderson faced 31 shots. Chris Neil added some insurance with an empty-net goal.Alex Tanguay, John Mitchell and Gabriel Landeskog scored for the Avalanche (1-3-1). Calvin Pickard faced 28 shots in his NHL debut.Pickard was called up earlier in the day from the American Hockey Leagues Lake Erie Monsters after the Avalanche placed Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve. Pickard wasnt expected to see any action, but Colorado lost backup Reto Berra before the game was three minutes old. Berra was knocked over by Ottawas Kyle Turris, who was pushed by Mitchell. It was probably a good time for a debut because you didnt have to think about it, you got right into it, said Pickard. It was a fun atmosphere, good Canadian building and it was a good experience, but I would have liked to get the win for sure.Avalanche coach Patrick Roy couldnt fault Pickards play, but he wasnt overly impressed with some of his players. We cant be happy about our game overall, said Roy. With the lead we had 13 turnovers. If we do turnovers when were up by one goal eventually the pucks going to end up in the net. We have to be better with the lead; we have to be a lot smarter than that.I didnt think we managed our game very well.Overall, Pickard was solid for the Avalanche, but the Senators scored two quick goals in the third to take control of the game and bring the 19,913 on hand at the Canadian Tire Centre to their feet. After being robbed by Pickard in the second, Ryan made the most of a second opportunity and beat the 22-year-old through the legs to tie the game. Just over three minutes later MacArthur scored to give the Senators a 4-3 lead, their first of the game.To be honest thats kind of what we expect them to do, said Senators coach Paul MacLean. As the leadership group of the team and the skill level of the team, that when the game is on the line and they have it on their stick the expectation is that theyre going to make plays to give us a chance to win the game and they certainly stepped up and did that. http://www.englandeuroshirtshop.com/youth-nike-eng...shirt.h tml. .Trailing 3-1, Ottawa made it a one-goal game early in the second as Legwand scored a power-play goal, his first as a Senator.Anderson and Pickard were the difference for their respective teams the rest of the way in the second.Anderson made four consecutive saves late in the period, while Pickards best came at the 17-minute mark as he slid across and robbed Ryan.Ottawa struggled in the first and the Avalanche took advantage to take a 3-1 lead.I dont know if we were nervous in the first or what we were doing, but we didnt play hard enough and we didnt win the one-on-one battles, said Senators captain Erik Karlsson. We came in (after the first period) and no one was happy with how we played and we just kind of had it out and had some words and took a deep breath after and (MacLean) came in calm and gave us directions of what to do in the second and we just came out and executed.Colorado jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Tanguay grabbed a loose puck and beat Anderson high. Colorado made it 2-0 at the halfway mark as Mitchell scored shorthanded after beating Karlsson in a foot race.Ottawa cut the lead in half as Smith tapped in Curtis Lazars shot, but after going 0 for 13 on the power play this season the Avalanche finally managed to score with the man advantage as Landeskog scored from in close.Lazar had been anxiously waiting for this night and he maintained his enthusiasm throughout the game.Curtis certainly had an impact on the game and showed great enthusiasm to be playing here in Ottawa in front of the fans, said MacLean. He really was a force for our team and a big reason why we won was the play of his line with Zack Smith and Milan Michalek, which I thought was probably the most consistent line that we had from start to finish.Colorado will look to end this four-game road trip on a high as they head to Montreal to take on the Canadiens Saturday night, while the Senators will host Columbus.Notes: The Senators will be without D Marc Methot (back, indefinite). D Jared Cowen, LW Mike Hoffman and LW Colin Greening were a healthy scratch for Ottawa. The Avalanche placed G Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve prior to the start of the game. Colorado was also without LW Patrick Bordeleau (back). Golfers Brad Fritsch and Brooke and Brittany Henderson were on hand for the game.
