ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves acquired shortstop Paul Janish in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, and manager Fredi Gonzalez said he will be in the lineup when veteran pitcher Ben Sheets makes his first start of the season Sunday against the New York Mets. Nike Roshe One Br dame . Atlanta sent minor league right-hander Todd Redmond to Cincinnati for Janish, who has a .981 fielding percentage in 283 career games at shortstop. "Hes a proven defensive talent," Braves general manager Frank Wren said. "And we felt like, for our club, that was the most important aspect of the acquisition." To make room for Sheets and Janish, the Braves will send Randall Delgado to Triple-A Gwinnett and place shortstop Jack Wilson on the 15-day disabled list. Gonzalez said Delgado will start for Gwinnett on Monday and pitch the second game of the Braves doubleheader next Saturday in Washington. "It was a tough decision between him and (Mike) Minor, but the last couple of starts with Minor we felt that there was some progress being made there," Gonzalez said following Atlantas 8-7 victory over New York. "Things change in a hurry but thats how were going right now." The 33-year-old Sheets hasnt appeared in a major league game since he started Oaklands 2-1 loss to Boston on July 19, 2010. The right-hander is 90-92 with a 3.79 ERA in 241 career starts over nine seasons with Milwaukee and Oakland. Atlanta traded for Janish after it lost starting shortstop Andrelton Simmons to a broken right little finger last Sunday. The rookie is likely to miss at least four weeks. The 29-year-old Janish has a .221 batting average with seven homers and 70 RBIs in 324 big league games. He has spent the entire 2012 season at Triple-A Louisville, hitting .237 in 49 games. Wren said the Braves had a list of three or four guys they were scouting since Simmons injury. Gonzalez indicated rookie Tyler Pastornicky, who was recalled from Richmond before Saturdays game, was not a candidate to reclaim the job he lost due to weak defence. "We were the pursuers, so you cant necessarily dictate the timetable," Wren said. "We thought Janish was the best defensive shortstop out there that we could acquire. He was the No. 1 guy on our list." Redmond is 69-56 with a 3.57 ERA in eight minor league seasons. The 27-year-old right-hander, who was assigned to Louisville, went 6-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 18 starts for Gwinnett this season. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said the trade gives the club some pitching depth in the minors. The Reds have used only five starters through the first 87 games this season, a franchise record. Cincinnatis pitching staff has kept the Reds in contention in the NL Central. The staff ERA of 3.39 was Cincinnatis best at the All-Star break since 1990. Nike Free Run 2 Blå .B. -- Christophe Boivin forced extra time then scored again in a shootout to lift the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 4-3 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the lone Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game Thursday. Nike Free Run 2 norge . - Dwyane Wade isnt sure whether hell miss more games after leaving the Miami Heats victory over the Los Angeles Lakers late in the first half Tuesday night with a mild left hamstring strain. Six players from the BCS title game -- including Alabama tailback Trent Richardson and LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne -- are among U.S. college footballs underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft. Theyve got plenty of company. The two All-Americans are among a record 65 players who have been declared eligible for the April draft, a field that also includes Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and runner-up Andrew Luck as the top quarterbacks. Counting Richardson, the top three Heisman vote getters are all leaving early to start cashing NFL paycheques. The NFL released its official underclassmen list Thursday. Despite a rookie wage scale established in the new collective bargaining agreement, the number of players choosing to leave school early tops the previous record of 56 set last year. NFL draft consultant Gil Brandt isnt sure thats a good thing. "I dont think its surprising, because theres so much more activity by agents today, telling these young guys to come out of school," Brandt said. "Consequently, I think thats the whole story. "What a lot of them have told kids is that theyre going to be drafted high, or that theyve seen the draft list and theyre going be second-round picks and things like that." Others who are draft eligible include Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon, Southern California offensive tackle Matt Kalil, Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly and Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus. Plus the LSU and Alabama trios. Claiborne was joined by LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers and receiver Rueben Randle in leaving early. Alabama linebacker Donta Hightower and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick also declared for the draft a few days after the Crimson Tides 21-0 win over the Tigers in the BCS championship. Brandt said he had thought the rookie wage scale might have the reverse effect. He said some players like USCs Kalil are likely top-five picks, making leaving early an economic no-brrainer. Nike Roshe One Br Svart. . Others, like South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore, could have potentially improved their stock with another year in college, Brandt said. "I think in a lot of cases guys that are coming out, its a mistake," he said. "I was really happy to see (Oklahomas) Landry Jones and (Southern Californias Matt) Barkley and those guys stay in school. "The people who stay in school and finish up seem to have a better chance of succeeding for a longer period in the National Football League." In some cases, they can also improve their draft stock considerably, something thats not quite as profitable under the rookie wage scale but is still worth a nice chunk of change. Brandt cited Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as an example. "He stayed for his full time at Nebraska," Brandt said. "Had he come out a year early, he would have probably been drafted the lower part of the first round. "He stayed in school and wound up being the second pick in the draft. It was probably worth US$15 million to him at that time." Suh signed a five-year deal worth $40 million guaranteed and up to $68 million. Quarterbacks Jones and Barkley arent the only stars who are staying put. Claibornes fellow All-America cornerback and Heisman finalist Tyrann Mathieu is just a sophomore while Wisconsin running back Montee Ball -- fourth in the Heisman voting -- is coming back for his senior season. So is Alabamas Outland Trophy winner Barrett Jones. Tide teammates Richardson and Kirkpatrick had young children as impetus in their decisions. "You have to have some kind of background for playing this game," Kirkpatrick, who has a five-year-old son, said after announcing his decision. "This is not a game that you just wake up and play. "It has to mean something. You have to have something thats going to drive you and make you play 100 per cent. I feel like my son is the anchor of all that."
