RENTON, Wash. -- Apparently Darrelle Revis and Richard Sherman got all their talking about one another out of the way during the off-season. On Thursday, neither had a disparaging word to say about the other despite their much-publicized jawing session on Twitter earlier this year. So much for any good trash talk before the Buccaneers face the Seahawks, the first time the elite cornerbacks have played against each other. While they are widely regarded as two of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, good luck getting a unified opinion on which is better. Especially when both are watching what they say heading into Sundays game. "I havent really studied film on him to really make an assumption on him being the top guy," Revis said. "He can play. I love his game. He makes plays. I like how he presses. Hes a great corner in this league." Thats a far different tone than the one both Revis and Sherman took in February, which led to a short, but memorable Twitter argument about who was better. Revis fired the first shot, "I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like girl. This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety (at)r--sherman25," then brought up Roddy Whites 47-yard TD reception for Atlanta against Sherman and the Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoffs. Sherman responded about an hour later, relying on statistics to make a point: "Got off my flight to this hilarious convo. So I have 8 picks 3 ff and a sack. My season stats looking like Revis career stats." Thats when the words appeared to get more personal. Revis pointed out Shermans lower number of followers and ended his tweet with, "Sit down young pup & wait your turn." Sherman responded directly to Revis, "one season u will get 8 picks.... But it wont happen anytime soon... I did it in my 2nd season... So u have something to chase." That could have ended the tussle, but Sherman continued. "For the QB not throwing his way argument. In his 2nd year they were throwing his way. I still doubled his picks," Sherman wrote. Finally Revis ended the conversation with four successive tweets saying Shermans responses were his way of getting attention and drawing followers. "Hey everyone (at)rsherman--25 wants to be a lockdown corner. He wants to be in the talks of a lockdown corner. So follow him so he can become 1!" Revis wrote. Sherman said Thursday hes never met Revis in person. Asked if he had any regrets about the Twitter argument, Sherman stood behind what he said then threw a little praise in the direction of Revis. "No I dont have any regrets about anything. Hes a good player and hes having a good year," Sherman said. "I dont think hes very happy with the way theyre using him in the scheme making him play a lot of Cover 2 and making him play off. I think hes much, much better when hes man-to-man. I think any corner that has any pride about himself wants to be in man-to-man situations and want to do his job. Cant help how youre being used." From a numbers perspective, Sherman is having the better season. Hes tied for the league lead with four interceptions and has eight passes defenced. According to STATS Inc., Sherman has been targeted 37 times and given up 19 completions. Revis is being targeted less, but percentage wise has allowed more completions. Revis has been targeted 30 times, allowing 16 receptions with one interception and six passes defenced. The numbers are similar and so is the talent. "Hes a great player. Hes one of the best in the NFL but Ive been going against, in my opinion, two of the best cornerbacks all season every day in practice," Seattle wide receiver Golden Tate said. "So I think if I handle my business, do my job right, hes just going to be a guy. Im excited for the challenge. Have tons of respect and its going to be fun to go against one of the best in the league and maybe even a Hall of Famer." Notes: Seattle coach Pete Carroll told Sirius XM NFL Radio on Thursday that WR Percy Harvin will not play against the Buccaneers. "Hes getting close but not close enough," Carroll said. Carroll does not speak with local media on Thursdays. Daryl Worley Jersey . The judges scored it 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 for Jones (19-1). It was the champions closest call. Despite the loss, it was a remarkable show by the confident Swedish challenger, who had the best of the early rounds and then hung on in the fourth and fifth. Tre Boston Jersey . They reached the 100-point plateau for the fourth time in five games, bested the visiting Trail Blazers by 34 in the paint and scored 19 of the final 25 points in regulation. http://www.thepanthersofficialstore.com/authentic-...rs-jers ey/ . -- Former San Diego Chargers safety Paul Oliver was found dead at his Atlanta-area home Tuesday night, and a medical examiner said Wednesday that the ex-player committed suicide. Paul Soliai Jersey . The 43-year-old closer, in his 19th and final big league season, has said hed like to play the outfield. Yankees manager Joe Girardi says hes thinking about allowing Rivera to do it this weekend, when the Yankees finish their season with a three-game series at the Houston Astros. J.J. Jansen Jersey . A statement from the worlds top-ranked player says all checks "were satisfactory and showed positive evolution" regarding the injury, which contributed to his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in the final in Melbourne.HOUSTON -- Bill OBrien got a bit antsy as his introductory press conference with the Houston Texans started to drag on and a question was posed about how much he knows about his new team. "Ive got a lot of work to do on this team and the sooner that I can get back to my office and start that work, itll be better," he said straight-faced as the rest of the room erupted in laughter. Less than two years after replacing Joe Paterno as coach at Penn State, the 44-year-old OBrien has returned to the NFL as coach of the Houston Texans. He was an offensive assistant under Bill Belichick at New England from 2007-12, but the Penn State job was his first as a head coach. Now he gets the Texans, who spiraled to an NFL-worst 2-14 record last season. "He showed that he has the ability to step into difficult situations and turn them around," Houston owner Bob McNair said. "He did that at Penn State under very difficult circumstances and did an outstanding job there. We expect to see good things happen immediately." OBrien was 15-9 at Penn State, hit hard by NCAA sanctions levied for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that cost the late Paterno his job. He takes over for Gary Kubiak, who was fired with three games left in the Texans dismal season. Despite Houstons collapse, many believe it is a plum position because the Texans have many talented pieces in place and could make a quick turnaround. Houston won consecutive AFC South titles before this years disaster. OBrien said he planned to meet with Houstons assistant coaches on Friday and begin making decisions on who will make up his staff. After his first season at Penn State, OBrien interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns, among others, only to stay in State College. This time the lure of the NFL was too strong to resist. "I do regret not being able to continue with the great kids on that team," OBrien said. "While I tried never to mislead anyone, I understand that some people feel let down. But again, it was a decision that was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me." He said an attractive aspect of this job was Houstons world-class medical centre. OBriens 11-year-old son Jack cant walk or talk because of a rare neurological disorder that also causes seizures. Almost exactly two years ago, OBrien fidgeted with a water bottle while taking questions from reporters at his introductory news conference at Penn State. He said then that he couldnt wait to get going, and he feels that way in Houston, too. The first-time NFL head coach was relaxed and confident throughout most of his first press confereence in Houston.dddddddddddd He did squirm a little when asked about his lack of ties to Texas in following Houston native Kubiak, and stammered some when asked about his infamous sideline blowout with Tom Brady in New England. He escaped the first question by saying he was going to buy his first pair of cowboy boots after the press conference. As for the second issue -- he downplayed the screaming match that ended with other coaches pulling OBrien away. "These things happen," he said. "There was a camera on it which I feel bad about, but what people dont understand about that was 30 seconds after that was over, we were sitting together looking at the pictures ... that quickly passed." OBrien follows Dom Capers, who led the team from its expansion season in 2002, and Kubiak as the only coaches in Texans history. Like Kubiak, OBrien is known as a quarterback guru, which will be important for a team searching for a solution after veteran Matt Schaub had a terrible season and lost his job to Case Keenum, who also struggled. OBrien has almost exclusively coached offence with a focus on quarterbacks, though he was a defensive end and linebacker while at Brown. "Its a job thats never-ending," he said of coaching quarterbacks. "Its a job that you can always improve if you like coaching quarterbacks and its a lot of fun to do." Houston has the top overall draft pick and could use it on a one of a trio of talented signal-callers who could be available. Louisvilles Teddy Bridgewater, 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M and Fresno States Derek Carr, younger brother of Houstons first-ever draft pick, David Carr, are the top-rated quarterbacks expected to be in the draft. "If we wound up with a young quarterback, wed probably bring in a veteran so we dont have to depend on that rookie," McNair said. "Thats tough putting a rookie in there and expecting them to be able play right off the bat. Thereve been a couple of them that have done it but a number of them didnt do so well. I think having that veteran presence is important." Houston has had the first pick in the draft two other times, choosing Carr in 2002 and defensive end Mario Williams in 2006. "The defensive player worked out better than the offensive player," McNair said with a laugh. "But that wont lock us into anything. Theres always a possibility. (General manager) Rick (Smith) and the coaches will trade around. Maybe well trade down and still get a quarterback that can do the job and get an outstanding defensive player."
