It could be a two-for-one bargain. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Chicago-Bears-Jay-...er-Jers ey/ . When the Toronto Argonauts signed Shea Emry to a free agent deal in February, they did so expecting him to be an impact player on the field. If he plays to his ability, theres no question hell provide them with quality production from his linebacker position. Theres another intangible he hopes to provide the double blue with as well; leadership. Emry was at the Argos office in downtown Toronto on Tuesday, where he told TSN.ca that he considers himself someone who is comfortable in that role, and is cognizant of the opportunity that exists for him to become a leader among Boatmen. "I consider myself to be (a leader)," said Emry. "I want to be considered as one by my teammates and I want to consider my teammates to be guys that can lead me. Everyone has their down moments, everyones got their plays they mess up and you need a team thats going to pull together." Appropriate words from the newcomer, as Pull Together has been the Argos motto for decades. Theres an opportunity for the 2012 East Division Outstanding Canadian to make an immediate impact in a leadership capacity because there have been several veteran Boatmen who have jumped ship. Does that present an opportunity for Emry to immerse himself into a leadership role more quickly than he could if it was a team with its defensive core returning? "Possibly. Theres a lot of turnover going on on the defensive side of the ball with Khalif Mitchell (free agent), Marcus Ball (New Orleans) and Pat Watkins (Edmonton)," Emry continued. "Its tough because theyre three really, really good players. Stepping into a defence that Ive already played in for a coach that Ive already played for (new defensive coordinator Tim Burke), thats going to be a benefit for me because I know how they work and a dynamic between us already exists. I can be a liaison between the young players and the coaches." The Richmond, B.C. native has already made a decision that should endear him to his new team, but may cause some eyebrow-raising within his family. The linebackers brother is getting married June 1, the same day as the first on-field sessions of training camp. Will Emry be a member of the wedding party? No, hell be on the field at York University for the rigors of two-a-days. "Its a pretty bad situation for me to be in," Emry admitted. "For the family, it doesnt make anyone feel good, but its the decision that I needed to make for the integrity of the person that I want to be as a football player and as a professional." This is not the first time that nuptials and football have butted heads in the family. Emry also missed his sisters wedding, which happened during his rookie season in Montreal. It wont make missing his brothers ceremony any easier, but making a good impression on his new team is that important to him. "If this was Montreal and I was sitting here taking to a Montreal reporter, we wouldnt be having this conversation because I would go (to the wedding)," he confided to TSN.ca. "But this is my first year here and I have a responsibility to give it my best and take every opportunity to make a difference on this club." Emry did not try on the new jersey, but held it up for photographers. Did the former Alouette like seeing his name on the uniform of a former rival? "It made it real for me," said Emry. "It was super exciting and it was quite a shock to be honest with you. Im very excited about it." To be honest with Emry, so are Argonaut fans. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Dallas-Cowboys-Dar...en-Jers ey/ . Fielding questions after the announcement, Yzerman noted that the brain trust had to take a chance on Stamkos being healthy, since they would be unable to add him to the roster later on. "If hes healthy hes one of the 25 best players, obviously, in Canada," Yzerman said after the roster announcement. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Seattle-Seahawks-C...Jersey- Uk/ . Russia has spent about $51 billion to deliver the Sochi Olympics, which run Feb. 7-23, making them the most expensive games ever, even though as a winter event it hosts many fewer athletes than summer games do.SUNRISE, Fla. -- The latest trade by the rebuilding Panthers is already paying dividends. Dylan Olsen scored his first NHL goal Thursday night to help Florida beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2. Jimmy Hayes, Nick Bjugstad, Tomas Fleischmann and Erik Gudbranson also scored for the Panthers. Tim Thomas stopped 29 shots and Scottie Upshall had two assists. Olsen also added an assist. Olsen and Hayes came to the Panthers in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 14 for wings Kris Versteeg and Phillippe Lefebvre. "Theyre good young guys. Theyre learning their trade," Florida coach Peter Horachek said. "They both want to be pros. They want to be here." Olli Jokinen and Andrew Ladd scored for Winnipeg. Ondrej Pavelec made 21 saves. The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak and earned their first points during that span. Olsen broke a 1-all tie at 3:31 of the second period when his wrist shot from the slot beat Pavelec. Upshall got his 100th career assist on the play. "Its awesome. Its your first NHL goal," Olsen said. "It was obviously exciting, but its even better to get the win and get off that three-game losing streak." The Panthers went ahead 3-1 when Fleischmann scored with 2:01 left in the second. A shot by Mike Weaver bounced off Pavelecs blocker, and Fleischmann poked in the rebound. Florida stretched its lead to 4-1 at 5:37 of the third. Bjugstad wrapped the puck around from behind the net and bounced it off Pavelecs leg and into the net. Jokinen, on his 35th birthday, made it 4-2 with 7:15 left in the game when he put the puck through Thomas pads from in front. Hayes scored with 2:44 remaining on a breakaway to make it 5-2. The Jets had two days of rest after their 5-2 win over the New York Rangers on Monday, but the trip to sunny Florida might have distracted them. http://www.thenfllockerroom.com/Seattle-Seahawks-B...er-Jers ey/. "We didnt have very many good players. We didnt play very intelligent, for as good as we were in New York," coach Claude Noel said. "We played way different tonight. We had a hard time getting guys engaged in the game." The loss dropped the Jets back to .500 at 13-13-4. "I hope this is not going to bite us @ the end of the year," Jokinen said. "One game over .500 was a chance to take a step forward." The Panthers had allowed 14 goals in their previous three games, all losses. "Fourteen goals is unacceptable," Gudbranson said. "We really stepped up and took care of our own end first and really forced them into nothing. That was really huge for us today." The Jets took a 1-0 lead on Ladds goal 5:27 in. Bryan Little passed from the right side to Ladd in front, and he wristed it into an open net. Little leads the Jets with 27 points. The Panthers tied it on Gudbransons goal. His slap shot from just beyond the right circle rifled past Pavelec on the stick side at 14:02 of the first. The Panthers had a goal disallowed on video review at 6:58 in the first when it was ruled that the puck and the goalie were both pushed into the net. NOTES: Thomas made his 11,000th NHL save during the first period. ... Panthers RW Tomas Kopecky returned from injured reserve after missing five games with an upper-body injury. ... D Dmitry Kulikov was back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch last Tuesday against Ottawa. ... Jets LW Evander Kane missed his second game with a lower-body injury. ...
